As a result of their years stalking bush prey, the Boers, according to the author, have developed a method of fighting that is both slow and effective. Despite not having formal military training, the methods for surviving in South Africa proved an effective means with which to fight the British forces, resulting in a need for the British to utilize technological and numerical superiority in the absence of tactical proficiency.
