We return again to Butler's 1872 novel, Erewhon, to see the harsh social critique the utopian author presents us. Here we are given the overview of death rites within Erewhonian society. Pay particular attention to the manufacturing of grief, the trading of vials of fake tears between mourners and how this might also inform the spectacle of mourning within Victorian society from the listed primary documents.
