In speaking of human love, she said she believed that not more than one-third of the married couples in England and America were happy. A man should not marry before 25, nor a woman before 20 or 21. It might be wise to appoint a committee to examine candidates for matrimony. In selecting a wife, young men were advised to marry no girl who wore a corset, and girls were advised to take no husband who was not a teetotaller. When married, courting should begin, and continue till the end of life.
