Claude McKay's Early Poetry (1911-1922): A Digital Collection

Workers Dreadnought Poetry

These are poems Claude McKay published in the London Communist Magazine, Workers Dreadnought, either under his name or under the pseudonym "Hugh Hope." Several of these poems appeared in other venues (see individual poems for details).

In addition to publishing a number of poems in Workers Dreadnought, McKay also authored numerous essays for this magazine on topics related to race, socialism, and the economic consequences of World War I. In future months we plan to digitize these essays and provide them here as well.
