Maxim. Maxim is famous for creating the Maxim machine-gun, the first ever recoil operated machine gun. Despite the damning title and several damning interjections of the author, the interview itself depicts Maxim as a modest inventor and entirely detached from the destructive capabilities of his weapon. The author does, however, makes a point to address the killing capacity of the machine-gun – it would go on to become one of the most heavily used weapons in WWI.
