Citing how the new army now carries for one soldier what the old Brown Bess could suffice for one regiment, he posits that the only two potential answers to the issue of increased ammunition are either a tremendous increase in wagons or that all other materials be replaced with ammunition. This article presents an example of the intense anxiety and resistance towards the advent of new technologies, for as the author believes, a higher rate of fire means more cartridges required and those cartridges take space that the current military transport line is not equipped to handle.
