Georgia Douglas Johnson, "The Ancestor" (1920)

The glory of their royal lie, the valor of their race;
A moment Tom was clothed in thought,—he was not orator,—
Then shouted,—"Boys, I say, by Jove, I'll be an ANCESTOR!"
