African American Poetry (1870-1928): A Digital Anthology

Will H. Hendrickson, "Two Poems" (1905)

Night--The Hypnotist

Again old night has pitched her airy tent,
And holds her hands outstretched high over all;
Her subjects nodding give at last consent,
And march along in Slumber's silent hall.

On Reflection

The dust of by-gone days
Few can shake,
Without discerning by the way
A grave mistake.
